Don Campbell’s completed Hitachi EX-8000 Mining Shovel model youtube video in 1/12th scale.

Finished Hitachi Mining Shovel Model Video – Todays picture shows the first picture of the completed Hitachi Model. I am very happy with the overall look of the model . Deb said she thinks it is her favorite so far. She loves the bright orange and grey colors.
This model is a real beast of a model too and I am very pleased how it looks. As I always say when finishing my models, I am no engineer, my tools are crude, my workshop is very small and I have never taken any welding classes. Starting with just bare flat sheets of metal on my workbench and a half a dozen pictures it is more metal art to me. Either way, I absolutely continue to love this hobby of model building.
Hey Deb !, What’s for Supper ? – Chinese take-out , YUM !! Deb is going to be too busy partying to make me any supper tonight , ha,ha. We got a couple little goodies for tonight and we’ll be staying home snuggling and drinking a root beer . Pretty boring for most people, but perfect for Deb and I (:>).
Washington D.C. – Nicole and Bill made it home last night safe to D.C. so they will be getting ready to party tonight with their friends. They have some very nice city friends.
COWBOY BOOTS- On the last day of shopping and the last store we went shopping in Nicole decided she wanted cowboy boots? I told her it was anxiety knowing it was the last store to shop in on vacation, ha,ha. We have been walking out the door in the past and she would spot something and go back and get it , ha,ha. There is no doubt , the girl loves to SHOP ! But the girl works hard and gets a big check too, ha,ha so we just smile and enjoy our time together.
This is the last post for this year and I just want to thank everyone for all the nice e-mails over this last year. This is my 5th year now of having a webpage and as long as I continue to get nice e-mails letting me know you all enjoy the daily blogs.
We hope you all have a very safe and Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P&H 5700XPA Worlds Largest Two Crawler Shovel will be built in 1/12th scale this winter by Gaylord Toy Builder Don Campbell.

P&H 5700 Electric Mining Shovel – Todays picture shows the next large shovel I will build in 1/12th scale this winter. This model will be close in size to the Silver Spade . Although the Silver Spade was much larger in real life, I built it in 1/24th scale. This monster P&H 5700 is the largest two crawler electric shovel and it is a monster of a machine too. To build this machine in 1/12th scale will not be easy. There will be twice the labor and many more materials involved to build these BEAST of a Shovel. This model will stand over 7 feet tall at the top of the boom cable pulleys. This 5700 XPA will stretch over 12 feet long in my workshop when completed. The height to the top of the gantry alone will be five and a half feet tall. And the width of the revolving house will be four and a half feet wide.
It will not even begin to fit through my workshop door when completed. In fact, my current Hitachi will not fit through the shop door. So before spring I plan on cutting a new much wider door that goes into my front garage . I always planned on doing that just didn’t know when . So this will be almost in comparrison in size to the monster Silver Spade in the smaller scale. DOUBTS !! Do I have any doubts I can build it and get a very realistic looking model of it ?
No, I feel very confident I can build a very nice looking all steel, one of a kind replica of this amazing electric shovel.
The only question will be if the collector will want to make the investment or not. I could end up building it anyways because I love the worlds biggest machines made into the worlds biggest all steel models. (:>). Besides if no collectors wanted it, it could always be added to my one of a kind collection. (:>).
FIVE MILES ON THE TREADMILL – Nicole and Bill are heading back to D.C. today and we had a great week with them. We were so glad we kept in control on our eating and our daily exercising. Today was no different as I hopped on the treadmill and ran a whopping 4 miles and then walked another mile for a total of a 5 mile workout !!
Go me, I might not look buff, but I am in pretty good shape for a senior citizen (:>). Deb ran two miles this morning on the treadmill and I am so proud of her !!! She has to keep in good shape to be able to hold up all the cameras for future videos and pictures, ha,ha.
HITACHI VIDEO – Speaking of videos, if all goes as planned tomorrow Deb will be doing a video of the finished Hitachi EX-8000 Shovel. Today I will put the cab windows in, detail the cab interior, apply the decals , finish connecting all the hydraulic lines and paint all the lights.
STEAKS ON THE GRILL – Last night we cooked beef tenderloins on the grill for our last supper of vacation with Nicole and Bill . Despite the fact it was only 4 degrees outside , the steaks were delicious !! So Tender and the marbleing was perfect. yum !!
A perfect ending of a meal to another perfect Christmas Vacation .
Thanks Nicole and Bill for all the great presents !! and for keeping us focused on being healthy.
NEXT 5K RACE – If everything works out as planned I will be running my second ever 5 k race. My very first race i ran it in 28:18 so hopefully I can match that time. I was very happy with that time for a old feller. Besides I managed to beat 250 slower runners. (:>) so that felt very good for my first ever race.
Cat 797F Monster Truck- AS soon as I finish the Hitachi front shovel I will get going on the monster truck model .
Hope you all had a great Christmas with family too.
Thanks for all the nice Christian E-mails Too . I am always first to admit I am a struggling Christian , but neverless a very PROUD Struggling Christian !!! As Christians we can’t start at the top, we start at the bottom and work our way up as Captains and Generals in God’s Army. sad to say I am still just a private , but glad to be in God’s Army and glad to be in the fight (:>).
Have a Great Wed. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gaylord Snowshoeing , Don and Debbie Campbell and Daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Bill Heath.

Gaylord cross country trails- Todays picture shows us stopping to check out the cross country trails in Aspen Park in Gaylord . We had just finished exercising at the Otsego Co. Sportsplex and wanted to see about going snowshoeing. But the temps were in the teens and Nicole , Bill and Deb voted not to go . But I did talk them into stepping in the snow for this nice woodsy, wintery scenic picture of the four of us. (:>)
Hey Deb ! What’s for supper ? Beef tenderloins on the grill tonight with all the goodies and a fancy dessert for our last night with Nicole and Bill for the holidays. It has been another very fun Christmas.
Vacation Exercise results- We were very happy knowing the week Nicole and Bill were home we went to the sportsplex 5 of those days to run and walk and it was closed two days or we would have gone everyday. So we were happy about that. It’s good knowing Jan. 1st we don’t have to have any New Years Resolutions to start exercising.
WORKSHOP HOURS- Wed. morning , or tomorrow the workshop reopens and the little toy maker goes back to doing what he loves doing , Making Toys (:>).
Hitachi Decals Done- I got the Hitachi decals ready to apply tomorrow and I could completely finish it by tomorrow night .
P&H 5700 LR BIG DON- I am having trouble locating drawings and pictures of the P&H 5700 LR and the PH 5700 EXP shovels. These are the two choices I would like to build the next 1/12th scale model of. There is plenty of info on the P&H 4100’s including brochures. Any help with pictures or drawings on the 5700’s would be greatly appreciated.
NICOLE AND DEB WALDON VIDEO- Deb and Nicole voted Not to do the Waldon Videos unless I build a heated cab on one of them. With high temps in the teens that was not anything they were interested in doing today. (:<)
Have a great Tues. !!!!!!

Waldon Snowplowing Video of Nicole on John Deere and Bill on Loader.

Two Snowplowing Videos- Todays Picture shows Nicole and Bill plowing snow in our driveway. Bill’s video shows him having fun moving some fresh fallen snow with one of my mini Waldon Loaders. Nicole’s video shows her inside the nice warm cab of the John Deere pushing large piles of snow so Bill could scoop it up and haul it away ! (:>). Fun was had by all . That was me in the cute red hat and I also got footage of Deb in the videos.
Sportplex – Bill joined us today at the sportplex to run three miles. He got his wild boar all processed yesterday . We still are going to try to get out in the woods and the four of us do some snowshoeing.
Hitachi Progress- The Don Campbell Workshop is still closed for the holidays !! (:>).
Have a great Monday !!!!!!!!!
